Get an account & Login
1. How to get an account
At the moment, only DLR employees, DLR cooperation chairs, external DLR-partners for projects with DLR involvement, and Bavarian research institutions are eligible to use terrabyte.
The following steps need to be done to setup a terrabyte account:
- Get terrabyte/LRZ account via terrabyte Registration Service.
- Once you have an account, you need to setup Two-Factor-Authentication.
- You should now be able to login into the terrabyte Login Node or using the terrabyte Compute Portal.
After successful completion of the registration process, the automatic file system provision procedure will create your HOME directory after a delay of about one hour. Please do not log into the login node before that time.
To submit an HPC job or to start an interactive application in the terrabyte Portal, your user account needs to be added to the HPC SLURM permission database. This happens at the following times each day: 8 AM, 12 PM, 4 PM, 8 PM.
2. Where can I store data?
Basic storage:
- 100 GB home directory
- 1 PB scratch space
Institute storage:
- A storage container on the Data Science Storage (DSS) for you or your DLR-internal project. Please contact your terrabyte institute representative.
Project storage:
- If your institute doesn‘t have a terrabyte representative or in case of a non-DLR-project, you need to apply for a terrabyte project.
3. What is the login node and how to log in?
Using the Login Node you are able to manage your data and submit jobs to the terrabyte High-Performance-Cluster (HPC). You can learn about our HPC and available nodes and partitions in the HPC section.
